Moved from freight ops into compliance: how do I get management to take the function seriously?Twenty years of watching this: perception changes when compliance starts speaking in the company's language, not ours. Three things that work, (1) a monthly one-pager: duty saved, penalties avoided, shipments unblocked, in euros; (2) stop saying no, start saying 'yes, this way'; (3) borrow authority, bring peer benchmarks from communities like this one ('here is how three comparable firms staff this'). Management dismisses one lonely voice; they rarely dismiss an industry.
