Marketplaces started holding a packaging registration number on 12 August: who signs for a seller with no EU branch?

The outer carton is the bit I actually chased, because my forwarder overpacks every air shipment. What I was told: the forwarder is not the one placing that packaging on the market, the party who ordered the shipment is. So it is mine, not his. Not the answer I wanted.

On Germany I am behind you. I registered in my own name, no representative appointed yet, and the mandate wording is where I stalled. Everything I read says they carry the duties in their own name while the entry stays personal, which reads like two answerable parties, not one.

Did your marketplace give any grace after 12 August, or did the listings go dark the same day?

On the banking side this shape is old: an agent acts, the principal stays liable. So expect the honest answer to be both of you, and let the mandate decide which one gets asked first.

Which means the mandate is the document that has to survive the question. Have it say who supplies the volume figures, in what form, by when, and who keeps the signed copy of what was handed over. Have it say who approves the number before it is filed, and what happens to a correction afterwards.

A wrong volume is then a discrepancy with a name on it, not an argument.
